Why use Botulinum Toxin?
Over time, wrinkles form due to aging and active facial expressions. Botulinum toxin offers a solution by creating temporary, reversible paralysis of targeted muscles for 4-6 months, depending on the product and muscle dynamics. This treatment is most commonly used to reduce lines and wrinkles in the face and neck, inhibiting muscles that contribute to negative emotions. Beyond aesthetics, botulinum toxin treats bruxism, TMJ pain, hyperhidrosis, muscle spasms, headaches, and enhances skin quality by improving conditions like enlarged pores and rosacea.
How does Botulinum Toxin work?
Botulinum toxin, a neuromodulator, is injected into specific areas through a series of tiny injections. It works by blocking the release of acetylcholine, the chemical responsible for muscle contraction. By inhibiting this chemical, the treatment prevents targeted muscles from contracting, which relaxes the skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and lines.
What can I expect?
Botulinum toxin treatments are quick, with minimal discomfort. During the procedure, a series of tiny injections are administered to the targeted areas, blocking muscle activity responsible for wrinkles or other concerns. You may experience mild redness or swelling immediately after, but this usually subsides within a few hours. Results typically become noticeable within 3-7 days, with full effects visible in about two weeks.
